EXPLORING EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS

Are you a parent with a child who is doing on-line school at home due to COVID school restrictions? Are you frustrated with the way things are going? Is your child suffering anxiety due to the stress? Are you aware that for years, parents have successfully been CHOOSING to homeschooling their children - different grades, ages, curriculums all at the same time - and are turning out adults who are happy, well-adjusted, independent, competent, deep thinkers and self-realized leaders? How can this be true? What is the missing link here? If homeschooling is so successful, why is it causing so much burnout and frustration in families during COVID? Read on to find some very interesting theories...and answers.

WHAT WAS IN THIS SECTION PRE-COVID
What are the ramifications of putting your child in daycare? Are you required by law to send your child to kindergarten? Should you send your child to pre-school? Do you know the compulsory school ages in your state? You may have more options than you realize.

Recent long-term studies have actually shown that putting your toddler in a loving daycare environment is not damaging at all to their well-being, now or later on in life. This article explains that parents of successful kids have these five things in common, and one of them, in fact, is that their moms worked. Sending them to school after kindergarten is another story, however (although you may have thought it was the other way around)!
So, we know that you have a busy life. Your family depends on you. Your job depends on you and you on it. You love your children and you want the best for them. You need to stay on top of your game. The last thing that we want to do is put something more on your plate to deal with than you already have. But if it's an important thing to wake up to, then we would be remiss to withhold that information and to least make it available to you. If you'd rather keep things the way they are, if they are satisfactory to you, then by all means, please do not read any further. But if you feel like something is just not right with our school system and how our kids are turning out, then feel free to watch the video below for starters, and consider an alternative education option whether it be homeschooling or a child and family-centered private school.

Parent #1: "When the time comes, I'm going to send my child to public school."
Parent #2: "But what about socialization?"

That used to be the question raised about homeschooling. But research has turned those tables around. Eight tests of divergent creative thinking were given to 1,600 children in the early days of the Head Start program and continued to be given to the same children over a period of about 12 years. The first tests, given when the children were 3-5 years old showed 98% of them scoring in the genious category. But 5 years later, only 32% these same children scored at that level. Five years after that, it was down to 10%. Over 200,000 adults over the age of 25 have taken the same tests and only 2% scored at the genius level. What happened?

The text experts found that the socialization process actually restricts and even reverses creative, divergent thinking. It doesn't take a lot of discouraging words to undermine someone's creative thinking and deter them from venturing off the path of commonality. That said, however, other studies have showed that good quality child care and early childhood education does not affect children in a negative way in the long run. So the crucial years are from ages 5-7 and above where great care must be taken to not stifle children's imaginations and creativity.
