“Maybe there’s no such thing as Asperger’s. Maybe all there is is what happens to you when you don’t fit in.”
Jacob in House Rules by Jodi Picoult

Have you wondered how the CDC gathers information for their statistics to determine that 1:68 children have autism? The CDC implements the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network. It is modeled after the CDC's Metropolitan Atlanta Developmental Disabilities Surveillance Program (MADDSP). The 1:68 ratio is based on the data collection in 2012 from 11 communities in the USA using health and special education records. A National Health Statistics Reports by the CDC in November 2015 was based on a recent phone survey reaching out to parents by the CDC. Its findings indicate at least 1:45 children have autism.
